Medical Sales Professional Job Description

Duties

An individual who works in medical sales is responsible for scheduling appointments to meet with potential patients/clients. Medical sales representatives also give presentations in which they demonstrate a medical device or other product and train and educate their clients on the benefits of these products. They then urge their clients to make a purchase. In addition, these professionals maintain records of their sales and customers and aim to reach established sales goals.

Other Responsibilities

Medical sales representatives need to stay current on trends in the medical field so that they are aware of their clients needs and can talk competently about industry issues with health care providers.

Skills

Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills for working with clients are critical in medical sales. In addition, medical sales representatives must be organized and should be able to network and negotiate. They should be pleasant, professional and good problem solvers as well. Medical sales representatives also should be willing to do a lot of traveling over a wide geographic area to participate in conferences and client appointments. They must be self-directed and should be flexible to work in the evenings if needed.

Education

We are looking for medical sales representatives who have medical sales or at least outside sales experience. We would also prefer employees who have bachelors degree or 24mths of higher education, preferably in an area such as business, marketing, life sciences or sales. In addition, we are seeking medical sales representatives who have experience in the medical industry and have knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
